President of the Republic appoints the Executive Secretary of the National Energy Commission

José Agustín Venegas Maluenda was appointed by the President of the Republic, Sebastián Piñera, as executive secretary of the National Energy Commission, from a list of candidates selected through the Public Senior Management System (ADP) of the Civil Service.

Venegas is a civil engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and an MBA from the Adolfo Ibáñez University. He has 30 years of experience in Chilean, Latin American and European Generation, Transmission and Distribution companies, and in the energy, gas and energy interconnections businesses. In addition, he was director of the CDEC of the Central Interconnected System (SIC).

In his extensive curriculum highlights that was responsible for analyzing and propose alternatives for electricity and gas regulation in Chile; was an active participant in all the regulatory processes of the last 20 years, with the contribution of relevant proposals for the regulatory changes associated with conventional generation, transmission, distribution, supply to regulated customers, supply bids, renewable energies, regulation of the gas market and rates, among others.
The Public Senior Management contest to provide this position began on May 20 with the publication of the call in national and regional media and on the Civil Service website, and 190 applications were received.
The National Energy Commission (CNE), which reports to the Ministry of Energy, is the technical body in charge of analyzing prices, tariffs and technical standards to which the production, generation, transport and distribution of energy companies must adhere. to have a sufficient, safe and quality service, compatible with the economic operation.
