The platform www.energiaabierta.cl, created by the National Energy Commission, was the winner of the first “Transparency Best Practices Competition”, through which the Council for Transparency (CPLT) rewards the proactivity of public bodies and companies.

The recognition was made today in a ceremony that counted with the presence of the Counselor of the Council for Transparency, Gloria de la Fuente; Andrés Romero, Executive Secretary of the National Energy Commission; Nelson Pizarro, Executive President and Óscar Landerretche, Chairman of the Board of Codelco.

In total, there were 17 participating initiatives, corresponding to government agencies, municipalities and public companies, of which the CPLT chose two winning initiatives: www.codelcotransparente.cl and www.energiaabierta.cl

Gloria de la Fuente, Councilor CPLT congratulated and highlighted these two innovative ideas, www.codelcotransparente.cl and www.energiaabierta.cl, websites that show information related to their management, which open various data to the public and encourage the use of Open data in an easy to understand way for everyone.

“Citizens deserve the highest and highest standards of probity. This is not only achieved with initiatives of a normative or governmental nature, but also with empowered citizens who have an effective, pertinent and direct access to information, “said De la Fuente.

For his part, Andrés Romero, Executive Secretary of the National Energy Commission, thanked the prize and said that “this type of initiative generates a huge public value, here you do not have to invest large sums of money, just enough with the desire and creativity to carry out this idea thinking about what people need “.

Óscar Landerretche, President Codelco said that “the challenge of making information about mining transparent was twofold, on the one hand we had to find a way to explain our work to the public in an understandable way, and on the other hand to make statistical data available visual way easy, accessible and useful “.

To choose both initiatives, the CPLT prioritized those that promoted the use of open data and other tools that could be replicated by other State institutions.
